With over 70% of hospitals and health facilities in Sudan’s conflict-affected areas no longer functioning, our community came together to raise funds for Maiurno Hospital in Sennar State. All proceeds went directly to refurbishing the hospital and providing essential medical supplies. Centers like Maiurno are true lifelines, serving hundreds of people each day as one of the few health facilities still standing.
This was Hot People Care About’s first event, held in collaboration with red. and Yalla for Sudan. The evening offered a beautiful mix of thoughtful discussions, opportunities to connect, and a celebration of Sudanese culture.
The panel featured Abdulaal Hussein, actor, activist, and social speaker, and Amna Nagi, spokesperson for the Dutch-Sudanese diaspora. Attendees heard firsthand from Sudanese advocates about their experiences, Sudanese history, and ways to support the cause. The common thread throughout the night was solidarity: attendees engaged deeply, showing care, empathy, and support. From the panel to the performances and conversations in between, it was powerful to witness the community come together for Sudan.
Following the discussion, the room came alive with performances by Hoosam Musa, MAHA, and DJ Yskander Stone. Guests also contributed through the purchase of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) provided by SOKÓŁ vodka.
A big thank you to the panelists, attendees and Bar Bario for providing us with the space to make this event happen.
